The link between open data and trust in government is weaker than we assumed

More evidence suggesting that the link between transparency/open data and trust in government institutions is not as straightforward as typically assumed by open government advocates - quite the opposite, in fact: “Based on two rounds of online survey experiments conducted in the U.S., the findings reveal that exposure to open government data is associated with decreased perceived self-efficacy, resulting in lower confidence in participating in public affairs”
